Cedar Wall

An old-growth western red cedar perimeter wall detailed to last a century with minimal maintenance.

Vancouver, British Columbia Past experience 2012
A long cedar wall of horizontal boards on a concrete base

This old-growth western red cedar wall around a private residence was built to last a hundred years. Each piece was chosen by hand, and water-shedding joints and surface treatments extend its life. There are few connection points, so single boards can be repaired without disturbing the wall.

Patrick Danielson detailed and built the wall with Dennis Williams Construction before founding DAO.
